How long does a log home take to build?

Construction time for a log home is no longer than a custom built home. The time ranges from three months or longer, depending on the size of your home.

Is a log home energy efficient?

The construction methods used to build our log homes create a home that is extremely energy efficient. The logs that make up the walls of our log homes are naturally air-tight. Our method of installing the logs creates an air-tight bond between the timbers.

Is it necessary to put a finish on either the exterior or interior of the logs?

All wood exposed to the elements should have some type of treatment. Logs that are left natural will become darker with age, or they can be stained to achieve a desired color. Either way, both sides of the logs should have a penetrating sealer applied to them.

Is it true that logs split over time?

Yes, the "splitting" that is referred to is commonly called "checking" in the log business. This checking is an inherent characteristic of solid wood timbers. Checking will always be present in a log home. However, checking does not effect the strength of the timbers. Checking enhances the character of the home, as many log home owners will attest.

Is financing readily available for log homes?

Due to increasing popularity of log homes financing is no longer a problem. Most any financial institution that will lend money for a conventional home will also lend money for a custom log home. We can assist you in finanacing your log home.

Does your company design unique log homes, or assemble them from a kit?

We will design a log home based to your specific needs and specifications. Any floor plan that you are interested in from publications can be adapted for use in a log home.
